The
E-Z Scan 16 is designed for super high quality transfers of 16mm sound
or silent film to video via one, easy to use unit. The E-Z Scan 16 is available
with sound in NTSC (24fps) or PAL (25fps). It can also be ordered as a
silent unit with the sound head removed. The E-Z Scan 16 silent is available
in NTSC (15fps) or PAL (16.66fps). 
The E-Z Scan 16 has a hyper-precise electronic sync circuit that maintains
hands-off, flicker-free transfers from beginning to end. The unit has manual
and auto-exposure and a panel mounted exposure control allows for minor
adjustments or presets. White balance can be locked or left in auto to
color correct as the film runs. And unlike other transfer units that crop
the image and shoot off the softer, base side of the film, the E-Z Scan
16 has a built-in 1CCD camera that scans off the sharper, emulsion side
of the film for maximum clarity. Rated at just under 500 lines, the built-in
camera bypasses the condenser lens assembly for increased resolution and
a smaller footprint, allowing the installation of the E-Z Scan 16 into
the tightest of workspaces, without regard to lighting conditions. The
original lamp has been replaced with a no heat, super-bright LED light
source that should last darned near forever (but spares are available).
Due to the larger mass of 16mm reels, this unit has sprockets but also
incorporates a lighting quick shut-off in case of lost loop, thus minimizing
the potential for film damage, compared to some other units. Manual slot
load and unload of the film in mid-reel is a breeze. The entire unit is
completely refurbished prior to modification with all metal film surfaces
polished, belts replaced and all mechanicals cleaned and lubed. Audio output
is line level via common RCA connectors.
This
is a serious transfer unit for both the commercial telecine business or
the home 16mm enthusiast. The end result is a flicker free image that is

The E-Z Scan 16
has a maximum capacity of 2400 feet (take up reel included) and comes pre-mounted
on a convenient base. For international use on 220VAC, requires a transformer
that ouputs 110-120VAC at 250 watts. Audio outputs are line level
via standard RCA connector.
