The
CineMate-16HD RGB is designed for super high quality transfers of 16mm
sound or silent film to video via one, easy to use unit. The CineMate-16HD
RGB is available with sound in NTSC (24fps) or PAL (25fps). It can also
be ordered as a silent unit with the sound head removed. The CineMate-16HD
RGB silent is available in NTSC (15fps) or PAL (16.66fps).
Unlike the basic CineMate, which requires occasional adjustments of the
motor speed to eliminate flicker, the CineMate-16HD RGB has a hyper-precise
electronic sync circuit that maintains hands-off, flicker-free transfers
from beginning to end. Separate sliders for Red, Green, and Blue LEDs let
you color correct using pure light for maximum image quality. And unlike
typical projectors or other 1CCD telecine units that crop the image and
shoot off the softer, base side of the film, the CineMate-16HD RGB lets
you use a high quality 3CCD camera or even an HD camera to image off the
sharper, emulsion side of the film via a precision, jumbo 5 inch condenser
lens. The enlarged gate allows access
to 100% of the film frame and your resolution is limited only by the quality
of the camera that you use. The original lamp has been replaced with a
no heat, super-bright LED light source that should last darned near forever
(but spares are available). Due to the larger mass of 16mm reels, this
unit has sprockets but also incorporates a lighting quick shut-off in case
of lost loop, thus minimizing the potential for film damage, compared to
some other units. Manual slot load and unload of the film in mid-reel is
a breeze. The entire unit is completely refurbished prior to modification
with all metal film surfaces polished, belts replaced and all mechanicals
cleaned and lubed. Audio output is line level via common RCA connectors.
This
is a serious transfer unit for both the commercial telecine business or
the home 16mm enthusiast. The end result is a flicker free image that is
sharp corner to corner with no hot spot. Offering a clarity once reserved
for only the finest professional transfer houses, MovieStuff units are
the number one choice, worldwide, for
small business and personal applications.
Technical stuff:
The CineMate-16HD
RGB has a maximum capacity of 2400 feet (take up reel included) and comes
pre-aligned with the condenser lens on a convenient base. A video camera
with the ability to lock to 1/60th of a second for NTSC or 1/50th of a
second for PAL is required and image stabilization must be turned off.
Room lights do not have to be turned off but care should be taken to avoid
reflections in the condenser lens. This unit works best with a camera possessing
a minimum 14x optical zoom (12x can be used but may require a +1 close
up filter).
