The
CineMate-15 is designed for super high quality transfers of both
regular 8mm and super 8mm film to NTSC video at a real time speed of 15fps,
all in one easy to use unit. Though regular 8mm film was ostensibly shot
at approximately 16fps, transferring at 15fps looks normal, plays more
smoothly and is flicker free; something not possible at 16fps due to conflicts
in scan rates and blade configurations.
And unlike typical projectors or other 1CCD telecine units that crop the
image and shoot off the softer, base side of the film, the CineMate-15
lets you use a high quality 3CCD camera to image off the sharper, emulsion
side of the film via a precision, jumbo 5 inch condenser lens. The enlarged
gate allows access to 100% of the film frame and your resolution is
limited only by the quality of the camera that you use. The original lamp
has been replaced with a no heat, super-bright LED light source that should
last darned near forever (but spares are available). The sprocketless drive
protects your customers' films from the potential damage typically found
on other sprocket driven projectors and transfer devices. The entire unit
is completely refurbished prior to modification with all metal film surfaces
polished, belts replaced and all mechanicals cleaned and lubed.
This
is a serious transfer unit for both the commercial telecine business or
the home 8mm enthusiast. The end result is a flicker free image that is
sharp corner to corner with no hot spot. Offering a clarity once reserved
for only the finest professional transfer houses, MovieStuff units are
the number one choice, worldwide, for small business
and personal applications.
Technical stuff:
The CineMate-15
has a maximum capacity of 400 feet (take up reel included) and comes pre-aligned
with the condenser lens on a convenient base. Sound film can be run through
this unit but it will not reproduce the audio track as it is a silent projector.
This unit can run both super 8 and regular 8mm film at 15fps only. The
CineMate has a convenient speed control knob to eliminate flicker and may
need to be occasionally re-adjusted during transfer for best results. A
video camera with the ability to lock to 1/60th of a second is required
and image stabilization must be turned off. Room lights do not have to
be turned off but care should be taken to avoid reflections in the condenser
lens. This unit works best with a camera possessing a minimum 14x optical
zoom (12x can be used but may require a +1 close up filter).
