The
Universal Mark-I is a cost effective solution for small
shops doing low volume scanning of 8mm and 16mm home
movies. It features interchangeable gates in dual 8
(R8+S8), 9.5mm,16mm and 17.5mm film formats. Unlike the
Mark-II, which uses the LightPin sprocket hole sensor, the
Mark-I gates use a lower cost but effective UV LED sensor
which reads the sprocket holes of the film. This results
in acceptable registration for most all home movies with a
black edge as well as many films with a clear edge but the
sensor must be calibrated for each batch of film for
proper operation of the unit. LightPin upgrades are
available, however. More information about upgrades can be
found HERE.
Like the Mark-II series, the Mark-I can provide scans in
SD, HD or 2K.
